Koreans are warm people. They can be hard to approach at first, but when you grow close they open their hearts. Making friends will be of great help in learning Korean.
[edit] Participating in Classes 생활강좌 참가
Wherever you go in Korea, someone is offering classes about various hobby or sports activities. If you regularly join with Koreans to work hard at learning something you will have many opportunities to converse with other people. The least expensive places to participate in such activities are cultural centers and the
social education centers run by cities and counties. In these places you will find classes on cooking, Korean music, aerobic dancing, and other subjects. If you participate in one of these classes you will be able to make friends with Korean people in your area. Look in the community newsletters published by city and county governments for information about these classes. Private institutes (학원) run by individuals also offer a variety of classes, including Tae Kwon Do (태권도), Korean fencing (검도), aerobics, Korean music, cooking, and other areas.
[edit] Talking with Your Co-workers 동료와 상담
Differences of culture and thinking may make it difficult to make friends with Koreans, even when you want do. When this becomes the case, a good way to deal with the situation would be to talk with other foreign co-workers or read books about Korean culture and social practices.
