Mokpo Natural History Museum is the largest natural history museum in South Korea. Opened in 2004, the site is 29,226 square meters in size. The museum is located in Yonghae-dong, Mokpo city, Jeollanam-do.
The Natural History Building houses exhibits on, among other things: insects, marine life, animals, dinosaurs, and geology. There are several dinosaur and reptile fossils, including the remains of an Allosaurus, pictured above. The Local History Building has displays on local ecology, as well as regional cultural artifacts, a collection of pieces by artist Oh Seung-woo, and a "Coins and Currencies Exhibition Center."
