Mt. Jirisan Ten Sceneries (지리산 10경중) are located at Jirisan and Jirisan National Park in Jeollanam-do, Jeollabuk-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do. These are the top sights as designated by the Jirisan Alpine Club in 1972. It should be noted that the English name, "Mt. Jirisan," is redundant, as "san" means mountain.
There is some discrepancy and misinformation concerning the order (here and here, for example), but here is a rough consensus of the Ten Sceneries:
[edit] One: Cheonwangbong Sunrise
At 1,915 meters, Cheonwangbong is the highest peak of Jirisan. It's a popular spot for watching the first sunrise of the New Year, and legend has it that one who watches the sunrise from Cheonwangbong will have good luck for three generations.
[edit] Two: Nogodan Sea of Clouds
From Nogodan (1,507 meters), look out as the clouds rest on the surrounding hills and mountains (picture here and here)
[edit] Three: Banyabong's Nakjo
Sunset from Banyabong (1,751 meters) (picture)
[edit] Four: Full Moon
[edit] Five: Red Sunset
[edit] Six: Waterfall
There is a 60-meter-high waterfall between Cheonghakbong and Baekhakbong.
[edit] Seven: Piagol Autumn Leaves
View the red autumn leaves in Piagol Valley. The scenery is most striking around Samhongso Pond, where the reddish-colored rocks compliment the bright leaves.
[edit] Eight: Azaleas
Azaleas prosper each spring, especially in Piagol Valley and an area called Royal Azalea Plateau, some 1,600 meters up.
[edit] Nine: Chilseon Valley
This river valley is known for its relatively untouched natural scenery.
[edit] Ten: Seomjincheongryu
