Mungyeong-eup

Mungyeong-eup (문경읍) (聞慶邑) is an eup in Mungyeong-shi, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It consists of eighteen villages or ri (里). On its west side is Goesan-gun's Yeonpung-myeon. To the north is Chungju-shi's Suanbo-myeon and Jecheon-shi's Deoksan-myeon. The eastern border meets Dongno-myeon and Sanbuk-myeon. Across the southern boundary is Maseong-myeon. This area is well known for its pottery, and for apple and pyogo mushroom production.

[edit] Getting there

Nearest train station is in Jeomchon - the old Mungyeong train line was disconinued in the 1990s. Nearest air service is in Seoul/Incheon and Daegu.

  • Bus. A bus terminal (termed a chungnyujeon or bus stop on its sign) is located in Mungyeong and has intercity connections to Daegu, Chungju, Cheongju, Jeomchon, Sangju, Andong, Seoul, Incheon and areas of Gyeonggi-do. The local buses also leave from this station, going to Jeomchon, Gaeun, Mungyeong SaeJae, and Pyeongcheon/Jungpyeong-ni.
  • Highway. Mungyeong-eup is located along the combined Highways 3 and 34, between Andong and Jeungpyeong and there's an interchange to Expressway No. 35.
