The National Museum of Contemporary Art (국립현대미술관), located near Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, is dedicated to showcasing the best work of Korean modern artists. Permanent exhibits include a pagoda of televisions created by Paik Nam-june, while the sprawling grounds around the park are planted with a variety of statues.
How to get there: Go out Seoul Grand Park Station exit 4 and take the shuttle bus, or take the 20 minute walk from exit 2, which will take you past several of the statues. One can also walk from Seoul Grand Park or the Seoul Zoo.
Admission fees: 1,000 won for adults, 500 for those under 19, free for children under 6, those over 65, and disabled and veterans. Admission is free for all on the first Sunday of each month.
Hours: During the week, 10:00 to 5:00, or 10:00 to 6:00 on weekends. Ticket booth closes one hour before closing. Closed Monday and on January 1.
