Neutari beoseot (Pleurotus ostreatus} are oyster mushrooms. They are sold fresh in the market in Korea. Overseas they can occasionally be obtained dried, sold as "Dried mushroom" and imported from China.
Medicinally, neutari is said to be good for diseases of the elderly, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, heart disease, and glycosuria.
Neutari caps are grey, the stems are white. They grow at the base of rotting or ancient trees, in autumn through spring. Mostly they are grown commercially nowadays.
Cook them in stews; or deep-fry in a starch-and-eggyolk batter.
