An officetel (오피스텔) is a type of apartment that comes from the word office+hotel, implying an apartment with a few more amenities at a bit of a higher cost than most. Officetels can generally be rented for anywhere from 1-10 million won deposit and a rent depending on the city and size, but usually around 300,000 to 800,000 or so. Management fees (관리비) usually must be paid as well separately from electricity, water and other costs. Sizes usually range from about 10 pyeong to twice that number, or higher.

Many schools will provide officetels to teachers over apartments especially for those who prefer a smaller place in the centre of a city compared to a regular apartment of larger size in an area further from quick public transport.
