Paldang Lake (팔당호, 八堂湖]) is a manmade lake in the city of Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. It has a total volume of 244 million tonnes and was created through the construction of the Paldang Dam in 1973. Though it is a protected area and development has not ocurred around the lake, pollution flows in from the Bukhan River, Namhan River, and Gyeongancheon, increasing pollution levels every year (quoted in 2001, the situation at present may be different).
