Palgongsan (팔공산) is a mountain just north-northeast of Daegu. It is actually a series of peaks and extends east-west for some 30km. Palgongsan's highest peak is Birobong Peak at 1192m.

The area is abundant with tourist sites, such as Donghwasa, Buinsa and Pagyesa Temples, Gatbawi, and there is also a cable car that you can take halfway up the mountain for scenic views.

The Palgongsan region is ripe with incredible restaurants, not just in the more popular southerly side of the mountain, but also on the many roads that snake all around the range, particularly on the west side by Pagyesa.

There are various ways to get to different areas around Palgongsan.

• To Palgongsan main entrance, cable car, and Donghwasa, take the red Geubhaeng (Express) 1 bus from Dongdaegu Station or downtown across from Migliore.
• To Gatbawi, take City Bus No. 131 from Ayanggyo Station.
• To Pagyesa, take City Bus No. 401 from Ayanggyo Station.
