Puffin |
Puffin (퍼핀) is a "Neighborhood Pub Restaurant" with four locations. The now-gone first location opened in 1997 in Pyeongtaek, but the most well-known to expats is the Songtan location, which opened on March 18, 2003, just a couple of blocks from the Sinjang Shopping Mall near Osan Air Base. There are two other locations in Pyeongtaek and one in Incheon.
Their menus are all in English and the staff are bilingual as well. You can choose to sit at the bar, in one of the intimate booths on the first floor, or at a small table on the second. It's a great place to take a date.
The head chef, who has 18 years' experience abroad, has put together a nice menu of western dishes; the menu is arranged according to what drinks he recommends they be paired with (beer, whiskey, cocktails, or wine). They have steaks, pasta, and Mexican and French dishes. They also have weekly specials and soups of the day.
All of the imported wines are Italian, though the selection is not wide.

If you're coming from the front gate of the Air Base, walk ahead about two blocks and turn left at the jewelry store on the corner; if you get to McDonald's, you went too far. Go all the way down the end of that side street and you'll see it on diagonally across from you on the left; you should pass Bobos in Paradise on your left and Bar Echo on your right as you walk down.
