Sanchon (산촌) is a Buddhist vegetarian restaurant in Insadong, founded over 20 years ago by a former Buddhist monk; all of the food served is grown by monks and prepared in a traditional temple style. It is best known for the dance performances which accompany dinner. When ordering, you've got only the course menu -- no individual dishes. The lunch courses costs 19,800 won; the dinner course, 35,200. The menu of both is subject to change and can be found here. To drink, they offer beer, two kinds of soju, and several varieties of rice wine. Menus are in English, Korean, and Japanese, though only Korean is spoken.
The restaurant is a bit difficult to find, as it's located in one of the several side alleys which branch off of the main Insadong street. Find their traditional tea and candies shop (of the same name) on the main street, and go down to the end of the alley next to it.
After dining, you may wish to visit their gift shop in the restaurant, where they sell tea, incense, bowl sets suitable for monks, and some small pieces of art. They also have a location in Goyang.
