Sanyang-myeon
(Redirected from Sanyang)

Sanyang-myeon is on the eastern side of Mungyeong-shi. On its south is Yeongsun-myeon; on its west is Hogye-myeon and Jeomchon; on its north is Sanbuk-myeon; and on its east is Yonggung-myeon of Yecheon-gun. Its government center is the town of Sanyang.

Sanyang town is a small place just north of the road to Andong, and a bit northeast of Jeomchon. It's right on the border with Yecheon-gun. A few restaurants, shops, a post office, a stop for long distance as well as local buses. Costs 850 won from Jeomchon via the Andong or Yeongju buses. There's a small Nong Hyup supermarket, next to the Nong Hyup bank.

A pine tree, Pyeonghaebeokson (平海碧松)has been designated as Natural Monument Number 425, and is located at Jondo-ri in Sanyang-myeon. It's 10 meters tall, 2.6 meters around, and about 500 years of age.

The Keum River forms part of the boundary between Mungyeong-shi and Yecheon-gun. This photo was taken from the railroad bridge just south of Sanyang. This river in Woraksan National Park in Dongno-myeon and ends up in the Naeseong River just about a kilometer above its confluence with the Naktong.

Sanyang's small business district is shown in the left-side photo. In the center folks are loading Sanyang Post Office parcels. And on the right there's Sanyang's log-cabin public toilet.
