사우나 (sah-woo-nah)
Korean saunas are essentially public bathhouses. Various names are used to describe them, such as the smaller mogyoktangs, outdoor oncheon (sauna), and the elaborate jjimjilbangs. The word 'sauna' gets used a lot for it's 'english appeal', however it does not strictly refer to the original Scandinavian steam rooms that have become popular throughout the world. The konglish meaning of 'sauna' usually refers to bathhouses with jacuzzis, hot tubs, showers, steam rooms, and related facilities.
It's quite common to see neon signs lighting up the sky, saying '24hr 사우나' , which are bathhouses with sleeping quarters. Prices usually range from 3000 to 8000 Won, depending if the sauna is actually just a local mogyoktang or a big scale jjimjilbang.
