Seollung Station (선릉역, 宣陵驛, proclaim.hill.station) is a station on line 2 of the Seoul subway. It is next to Samseong and Yeoksam Station. Note that even though it is written as Seollung and that Korean pronunciation rules dictate that it should be so, most Koreans pronounce the name of the station as Seonnung (선능). It is next to Samseong and Yeoksam Station on line 2, and the next station on the Bundang line is Hanti Station. Eventually after construction has finished, the Bundang line will continue up north and Wangshimni Station will become the terminal station. This is not expected to happen until at least 2009 however.

[edit] General information

Seollung Station is close to Seonjeongneung (선정릉), a nearby park based around the grave of a king (or kings). There is an entrance fee for the park, although there is also a small walking course around the park that most local residents use for exercise at night.

Seollung is located around Teheran-ro, the large road that makes its way west directly into Gangnam. The area has a large number of office buildings, many with coffee shops on the first floor, and there are two Coffee Beans, two Starbucks locations, and a number of others. Due to the large number of well-off business men in the area, the smaller streets behind the buildings have many bars, from regular bars to Sexy bars to Anmas and so on. This is different from the area around Gangnam Station, which has a large number of coffee shops but with a more uniform age with most people in their 20s and 30s, and of a similar age. Around Seollung Station there are more older men, and some women in their 20s may be in the area to work in the clubs. On the whole the area is not seedy (save the love hotels with the partially-hidden parking lots), however, nor dangerous.
