Shopping in Bundang

Bundang-gu in the city of Seongnam just south of the capital Seoul provides a wide array of shopping choices for residents to chose from, without having to resort to a trip to Seoul. While some shopping choices can reach extremely expensive levels, bargains are also available. In short, there is little you shouldn't be able to find, if you go to the right place.

[edit] Samsung Plaza

  • Samsung Plaza is Bundang's premier shopping area and generally offers the best of everything. Almost any major brand name of clothing, shoes, or accessories can be purchased here, but expect to pay full price. Brands such as Gucci, Channel and Celine all call Samsung Plaza home. On the main floor there is a large open area looking up to an enormous skylight, with many booths set up below selling clothing and accessories that have been put on sale. New items from make up, to electronics, to cars are also frequently put on display here. In addition, there is also an excellent grocery store and home interior store located below the main shopping area. On the top floor, a large number of restaurants are open for customers to dine at, as well.

  • Lotte Department Store is the most exclusive shopping center in Bundang, after Samsung Plaza. The store provides almost all of the same features without, however, the more dramatic architecture. Lotte Department Store too carries a wide variety of high-quality upscale clothing that reflects all the latest designs. It can also be just as pricey a place to shop. Under the store, is the location of a supermarket, which can easily provide for all your grocery needs. Restaurants are located on the 5th floor of the store, adjacent home electronics.

  • 2001 Outlet sells brand names clothing at large discounts compared to other department stores, and has frequent sales as well. In some cases, an item of clothing that would have been sold for 300,000 won last season may be priced down to a quarter of that value this season. Within the store, there is also a grocery store called Farmerslet (파머스렛) and another store specializing in home interior called Modern House (모던하우스). The Global Village Church occupies the top two floors of the building.
Location: Go out exit 5 at Migeum Station and walk for one minute, and then take your first left down the alley.

  • New Core Outlet is another store selling top grade clothing at relatively low prices. It has a similar format to 2001 Outlet, and most of the exact same items and brands, at almost identical prices, can be found here as well. Modern House occupies the sixth floor of the store and the grocery store Kim's Club can be found underground. A health club is located on the eighth floor.

E-Mart
E-Mart
  • E-Mart is a nationally recognized supermarket with dozens of locations throughout the country. The food available here is of good quality and at a reasonable price. From 2006, Emart began to offer organic produce in addition to its regular produce. Emart also has a department store component on the upper floors, with home appliances, fashion and other products available.
Location: The store is located in Jeongja-dong near the KT corporate headquarters.

  • Lotte Mart is another major grocery store chain that is well known through the country. It provides quality products at prices that most consumers would find acceptable. The store also sells fashion, runs a book store and sells music. A restuarant is avialable on the top floor.

  • Kim's Club is a national chain of 15 grocery stores that will usually be found with New Core Outlet. These stores, while similar to other major supermarkets in most other respects, are convienient for the fact that they are open 24 hours a day.
Location: Go out exit 3 at Yatap Station and walk for two minutes until reaching New Core Outlet. Kim's Club is underneath.

  • Huckleberry Farms (허클베리 팜스) is a grocery store chain from New Zealand that specializes in natural and organic foods. The store works to ensure that there are no genetically engineered ingredients, artificial preservatives, additives or colouring in any of the food they sell. While the food sold at the store is of good quality, you can expect to pay much more than at other supermarkets. This cozy little store is one of only two locations currently open in South Korea.
Location: Go out exit four from Jeongja Station and walk straight along the street for another block and then turn left. The store is at the end of the street, across from the Sony Store.

  • Homever is the chain formerly known as Carrefour, and has locations across the country. It has two locations in Bundang.

Location: The third floor of the Themopolis building. Use exit four at Yatap Station.

  • Hi-Mart is nationwide chain specializing in electronics and home appliances with four locations in Bundang. It is open from 10:30 am to 9 pm.

Yatap Store

Location: Go out exit 3 of Yatap Station and then turn right at Yatap Station Intersection (야탑역사거리). Walk straight three blocks and the store will be on the left.
