The Siji district of Daegu technically refers to a small area called Siji-dong, however, many foreigners refer to the east side of Daegu's Subway Line 2, as being Siji. So, for nightlife, restaurants, and shopping that are east of Yeonho Station, this article will refer to as being Siji.

The Siji area has many hagwons and is near some outlying universities in the Gyeongsan area, so there are concentrations of english teachers here. A few years ago, there used to be a Wal-mart outside of Exit 3 of Shinmae Station, but that has now changed to an E-mart. Across the street from the Wal-mart used to be a popular nightspot for Siji expats, called World Beer House, however, that location has since been closed. The foreign contingent has since moved on to new local bars, called Tokyo House, Odyssey, Mr.Seven and In My Memory(around the corner from BBQ Chicken), which are across from the outdoor basketball courts in the same area.In My Memory(main expat bar now) apparently has a trivia night and the odd open mic night in the same tradition as they used to do at World Beer House.
