Soyeonpyeong-do (소연평도) is an island northwest of Incheon, close to North Korea and smaller than its neighbour, Daeyeonpyeong-do. Soyeonpyeong-do lies about 5 kilometres south of the larger island. The two of them are in Yeonpyeong-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon. A number of sea battles in between the North and the South have occurred near the islands and for a time in 1999 crab hunting was forbidden because of an altercation between the two countries.
