쑥떡 (ssuk--ddeok)

Mugwort rice cake. A number of varieties exist - their common feature is that they contain "ssuk" or mugwort, a member of the genus Artemisia (which also includes sagebrush and wormwood.)

Ssuk garae ddeok.  This kind of rice cake is often sliced into the thin "ovalettes" seen here.  Known as ddeokguk-ddeok, that particular cut is used in making ddeokguk.
