(Comment: Wouldn't the nearest equivalent to this be 'tact' or is there no Korean equivalent to that? A lot of Koreans display appalling lack of tact by Western standards and, a quick perusal of the dictionary, shows it variously mistranslated as 'wit' or 'keenness' or even 'tactile sense', none of which capture it at all! Then again, until reading this article, I've always misunderstood 눈치 as a kind of quick wit or instinct, as you said, so perhaps these two ships have sailed past each other?
