Daema-do (대마도, 對馬島) is the Korean pronunciation of the Japanese island of Tsushima (つしま, 対馬). Though its proper name is Tsushima the word Daema-do is the one that more Koreans will understand. It is actually located closer to Korea than Japan, and the northern tip is a mere 50 km from Busan. However, the largest city on the island, Izuhara, is located on the southern side of the island closer to Japan, and still takes nearly three hours, the same time as a ferry trip to Fukuoka on the Beetle. The smaller city on the north takes under two hours for a one-way trip, but the price is the same at 65,000 won one way. The island itself is roughly ten times the size of Ulleung-do.
Tour companies that sell tickets for Daema-do in Seoul include Koryo Tours, located right out exit #4 of Shinsa Station. A larger number are located in Busan.
Note that the ferry seats only about 200, and rocks quite a bit. Passengers who experience motion sickness should be sure to take medicine before boarding and to get a seat in the back if possible.
