Wolmi-do (월미도, 月尾島, moon.tail.island) is an island located in Jung-gu in the city of Incheon, connected to the mainland. The name of the island comes from its appearance, as the tail end of a half moon.
The island has seen a great deal of conflict between Japan and Russia over navy bases and mining locations. The island was decreed a tourist spot by the government in 1918, and it has been connected to the mainland since 1923.
