Yeocheon-dong is one of 10 dong in Yeosu city, Jeollanam-do. It has an area of 7.53 square kilometers and has a population of 19,277.

Prior to 1998, Yeocheon was independent of Yeosu. Created in 1949, Yeocheon-gun was separate of the recently created Yeosu-si, or Yeosu city. In 1986, according to the Yeosu city website, two of the county's nine myeon were merged to become Yeocheon city, and in 1998 Yeocheon city and Yeocheon county were absorbed into present-day Yeosu [1].
