Yulha Station (율하역) is a station on line 1 of the Daegu subway. It is next to Yonggye and Shingi Station. The area does not have many amenities, but is more known for it being a traffic waypoint connecting Siji and the southern part of Daegu, with the north. The Daegu World Cup Stadium can be reached via the connecting road to Siji. Better shopping and commerical districts for local residents can be found at Gaksan and Haean Stations.
[edit] History
A long time ago, when the area was merely a village, local residents planted a few dozen chestnut trees. When looking at it from a distance, the village looked like it was in a small forest of chestnut trees. Although the original name was called "Banggae-dong", people began to call this area "Yulha", which in Hanja means "Under the chestnuts". The chestnut trees have since been removed during the Japanese occupation.
